Professor Anna Mayorovna Aranovich, President of the Russian ASAMI, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Medical Sciences will celebrate her anniversary birthday in January 2024. Anna Mayorovna’s life and career have been associated with the Ilizarov Center, where she has established herself as a doctor, researcher and organizer after graduating from the Orenburg Medical Institute. While still a young specialist, possessing extraordinary abilities, good knowledge, determination and enthusiasm, A.M. Aranovich earned the well-deserved respect of her colleagues by achieving her goals step by step, and held leadership positions in various departments of the Center for many years. Now she is Head of an orthopaedic department. For many years, Anna Mayorovna’s scientific activity focused on one of the most difficult problems in orthopaedics and traumatology – the treatment of purulent complications. Major achievements were summarized in a doctoral dissertation, successfully defended in 1995, and in more than 400 scientific publications, monographs, manuals and patents. In her doctoral dissertation, the author explored the reparative process and metabolic metabolism at the stages of osteomyelytis remission, and substantiated the average terms of medical rehabilitation using compression-distraction osteosynthesis. Advanced techniques improved patient outcomes that relied on the low-traumatic nature of the transosseous osteosynthesis method through stimulation of immunogenesis and the body's reserve capabilities without the use of ineffective complex therapy of osteomyelitis. Scientific activity of Professor A.M. Aranovich included study of genetic disorders in the process of natural growth. She supported significant progress in the development of methods for the rehabilitation of patients with achondroplasia and other genetic musculoskeletal disorders. The research conducted by Anna Mayorovna for many years made a worthy contribution to the substantiation and development of the “Ilizarov philosophy” showing its versatility and effectiveness. Under the guidance of the Professor, dissertation research has been and is being carried out in various areas of orthopaedics and traumatology making a worthy contribution to the development of the Russian science. Anna Mayorovna has been a member of the Scientific and Dissertation Board of the Center, Chairman of the Research Coordination Board and Ethical Committee, and permanent deputy Editor-in-Chief of the “Genius of Orthopedics” Journal.
